Tower Engineering Company (TEC) is a structural engineering firm, specializing in the analysis, design, inspection and site development of communications towers for broadcasting corporations, public agencies and tower owners worldwide. With licensed engineers in 48 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico, TEC is incomparably experienced in all aspects of tower work including construction support, equipment buildings and associated infrastructure.




Tower Engineering Company  is the continuation of the tower engineering services in the broadcast and communication industry provided by Madison J. Batt, PE, SE while with KPFF consulting Engineers (7 years), Tower Engineering Corporation (3 years) SpectraSite (2  years), Tower Engineering Consultants, Inc. (4 years), and TRA Tower Engineering (8 years).





Madison Batt, PE, SE

President/Senior Structural Engineer

Madison Batt has 42 years of experience in the field of structural engineering. He has managed a wide range of projects, including educational facilities, office buildings, hospitals, industrial facilities, and a variety of towers. He has gained valuable insight and expertise working with owners, architects, engineers and contractors, providing high quality services and efficient structural solutions.  He is well versed in wind and seismic engineering practices and has completed numerous projects that have involved wind and seismic assessments, analysis and upgrade design.


For the past 34 years he has specialized in the examination, evaluation, analysis, and design of TV and radio towers as well as communication facilities.  He has served as Principal-in-Charge and Project Manager for over 1,000 tower projects and has climbed and observed the condition of over 500 towers, ranging in height from 50 feet to 2,000 feet.  He is a licensed structural and/or civil engineer in 48 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico. Madison received his BS in Civil Engineering from the University of New Hampshire and did his post graduate studies at the University of Washington.


Kolby Burke, PE
Vice President/ Senior Structural Engineer

Kolby Burke is a talented structural engineer whose specific focus is on all aspects of tower analysis, design and inspection.  Kolby has performed inspections on many towers up to 1400 feet in height.  He has completed designs for numerous new towers and foundations as well as upgrading existing towers to meet client’s goals and needs.  He has completed over 100 structural analyses of towers ranging in height from 50 feet to 1100 feet, and ranging in service from broadcast clients to all types of essential services towers. 


Kolby has experience with shoring design and analysis as well as shoring feasibility studies.  With PND Engineers, his focus was spent managing projects for new designs of marine facilities and specialty projects, such as moving historic buildings.  Kolby also has 5 years of experience as a superintendent and field engineer in heavy civil/structural construction, specializing in bridge construction.

Eric S. Chin, EIT

Structural Engineer

Eric Chin is a 2015 graduate from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Since graduation he has worked for Tower Engineering Company on a variety of projects with a special focus on communication and broadcasting towers and specialty steel structures. He has since become experienced in analysis, design, and project management working on over 60 projects with TEC. Eric is currently certified as an Engineer-in-Training in Washington State and is preparing to take the the PE Exam. 



Chelsea Khang, EIT

Structural Engineer

Chelsea graduated from the University of Washington in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. She has experience working in the transportation field in the public sector prior to joining Tower Engineering Company. Since then, she has become proficient in tower analysis, design, modifications and inspections, and has started tackling residential repair projects. Through these projects, she has become efficient in a variety of analysis and design programs.



Nammy Tran, EIT

Structural Engineer

Nammy is a graduate from the University of Washington. As a Tower Engineer he works alongside the other engineers at Tower Engineering Company performing analysis, design, and inspection. Prior to working at Tower Engineering Company he worked at a firm specializing in residential structures ranging from single story houses to multi story apartment buildings. He collaborated alongside different architects and contractors to complete the engineering work for all phases of design and construction.
